Kodachadri Nature Retreat

Kodachadri Nature Retreat

The Place We Stayed During Our Kodachadri Trek

A trek is usually remembered for the trail, the climb, the views and the moments spent in the middle of nature.

But sometimes, the place where you stay becomes part of the journey too.

During our Kodachadri trek, Kodachadri Nature Retreat was our base. Located at the foothills of Kodachadri, surrounded by greenery and an areca palm farm, the retreat gave us exactly the kind of environment we were looking for before and after the trek.

A Stay Away From the City

The first thing you notice here is the change in atmosphere.

Away from the noise and rush of city life, the surroundings feel quiet, green and peaceful.

There is something refreshing about waking up surrounded by nature instead of traffic, buildings and the usual city routine.

For a trekking trip, I think this makes a big difference.

You are not simply staying somewhere close to the trek.

You are already beginning to experience the landscape.

Our Base for the Kodachadri Trek

Since we were there for the Kodachadri trek, the location worked well as a base for our adventure.

The retreat is situated in the foothills of Kodachadri, while Kodachadri itself is around 15 km away according to the property. The surrounding region also offers access to places such as Hidlumane Falls and other attractions.

After spending hours trekking, walking and exploring, coming back to a peaceful place surrounded by greenery felt like the right way to end the day.

The Malnad Experience

What made the stay more interesting was that it didn’t feel like a typical commercial hotel.

It has more of a homestay experience.

The property describes itself as a place to experience Malnad life, including authentic local cuisine and a slower countryside atmosphere.

And that’s what I liked about it.

Sometimes, while travelling, we look for modern luxury everywhere.

But some destinations are better experienced by slowing down.

Sitting around.

Eating local food.

Listening to the surroundings.

Talking with friends.

And simply enjoying the fact that you’re away from the city.

Food After a Long Trek

Food always feels different after a long day of trekking.

After walking through the trails and spending hours outdoors, sitting down for a proper meal becomes part of the experience.

Kodachadri Nature Retreat offers Malnad-style food, with breakfast and dinner included in its listed accommodation packages.

For us, having food and a place to relax after the trek made the stay feel complete.

A Simple and Comfortable Stay

The retreat offers different accommodation options, including double rooms, a dormitory and a two-bedroom house. Its listed amenities include homely food, tea and coffee, room service, campfire, Wi-Fi and hot water.

But honestly, when you’re travelling for a trek, you don’t always need luxury.

You need a clean place to rest.

Good food.

A comfortable bed.

A peaceful environment.

And people who make you feel welcome.

For our trip, that was enough.

More Than Just a Stay

Looking back, Kodachadri Nature Retreat wasn’t just the place where we spent the night.

It became part of the Kodachadri experience.

The conversations before the trek.

The excitement about the next morning.

Coming back tired after the trail.

Having food together.

Relaxing in the quiet surroundings.

These small moments often become the memories we remember later.

Because travel isn’t only about reaching the peak.

Sometimes, the moments around the journey are just as important.

Would I Recommend It?

If you’re planning a Kodachadri trek and looking for a peaceful homestay-style experience close to the hills, Kodachadri Nature Retreat is worth considering.

Especially if you’re travelling with friends, family or a trekking group and want something more connected to nature than a conventional hotel.

For me, it worked because the stay matched the purpose of the trip.

We weren’t looking for luxury.

We were looking for nature, comfort, good food and a place to recharge before the next adventure.

And that’s exactly what made the stay memorable.

Final Thought

Every trek has a starting point.

For us, Kodachadri Nature Retreat was that starting point.

A quiet place surrounded by greenery, where we prepared for the climb, returned after the adventure and shared the simple moments that made the trip special.

The peak gave us the adventure.

The retreat gave us a place to pause.

And sometimes, that’s all a good stay needs to do.

Stay close to nature.
Stay close to the journey.
